... A Life of Service. 

Although my daughter inspired me to run for school board, public service has always been a part of my life. Since graduating from the University of Kansas’s School of Law, I’ve dedicated my career to helping the community. For over five years, I worked in the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Human Relations Department. I ensured adequate representation for women and minority subcontractors on the city’s construction projects and work with developers to provide good options for these workers. I monitored projects to protect laborers and guarantee they’re provided a fair wage for their work. When our small business section opened up, I was there to make sure every business, no matter how small, had a chance to work on city projects and provide jobs for its staff. 

Before coming to KCMO, I worked as a prosecutor for Jackson County Missouri. My role as a community justice prosecutor had me meeting with neighborhood organizations and police departments to help combat drug problems before they came before me as a file on my desk. I worked with the defense attorneys in Drug Court to provide alternatives to incarceration on drug charges, such as rehab and counseling. I’ve worked with D.A.R.E. educators and community groups to help make sure kids in the community have other options besides a life of crime and violence.
